Moulded by the World.

Born in China.

  • Majority of my adolescence was spent in south-east Asia, and being exposed to the various cultures and values since I was young, has aided me in understanding the importance of hard-work and ambition at the core of everything you do from an early age.

  • Europe has a deep social history. The values of creating meaningful, lasting connections and impacts is prevalent throughout its various cultures, and remains true today. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and a chance to make their mark.

  • In the future I hope to discover more of the USA. However, from the experiences i’ve had I have learnt that in life you must be outspoken and confident in yourself, your ideas and your capabilities.

  • Africa is made up of a variety of ethinic groups each with their own distinct histories, rites and arts. Experiencing the cultural essence of each groups identities showed me the benefits of a healthy personal and professional culture.

  • Dream Big but Dream Smart. Visiting the Middle East I was astounded by the vision they implemented. Creating an oasis is no small feat, but they have accomplished it. Showing that as long as you allocate resources and communicate clearly you can get anything done.

欢迎来到, Bien Venido, Fáilte, Welcome.

My name is Daniel Jinghong Wu Murphy, and as you might have guessed by the ‘welcome’ I am Chinese, Spanish, Irish in no particular order. This section will provide an insight into key moments throughout my life and how it is they have affected me into becoming the man writing before you today.

I was born in Beijing, China to a humble Chinese man and an aristocratic Spanish-Irish woman, who I’ve known since that day, and forever will know, as my mother and father. Not even a month after I born, we moved to Netherlands and it was that day that my life had truly begun.

0-16: I started my school life in the Netherlands. Being surrounded by nature, and exploring as a child sparked a natural curiosity within, which would only develop as time went on. Due to parental occupations at the time we were a very mobile family, somewhat nomadic. By the time I had started the IGCSE qualifications in Malaysia we had experienced the nuanced lifestyles all across Asia (China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal).

16-18: After successfully completing the IGCSE examinations, I was given the opportunity to connect with my European Heritage for the first time. We moved from Malaysia to Spain, where I began studying for, and completed the A-Level UCAS Qualifications. My individual love for travel sparked in these years as global mysteries of culture, people and places began to unveil. (USA, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Ireland, France, Germany, Iceland, Sweden)

18-21: I chose Switzerland to pursue a BA(Hons) in Hospitality and International Business Management at the Swiss Hotel Management School. In retrospect, I would not have changed a thing as the exceptional standards, stimulating work experiences and meaningful connections are what drove me to becoming a confident man that pushes for positive change, while never forgetting that the core of success stems from a mutual respect of individuals.
